This FY 2023 update of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) is based on the World Health Organization's Tenth Revision, International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). ICD-10-CM is the official system of assigning codes to diagnoses and procedures associated with hospital utilization in the United States. This edition facilitates efficient navigation to specific medical conditions within healthcare systems. The update became effective on April 1, 2023, introducing 42 new ICD-10-CM codes, seven code deletions, and one revised code located in Chapters 19, 20, and 21.

<li>I.C.2.t. – Secondary malignant neoplasm of lymphoid tissue – new guideline</li>
<li>Chapters 4 and 15 – Add new code Z79.85, Long-term use of injectable non-insulin antidiabetic drugs</li>
<li>I.C.5. d – Dementia – new guideline</li>
<li>I.C.15.a.7 – Completed weeks of gestation – new guideline</li>
<li>I.C.15.q.4) – Hemorrhage following elective abortion – new guideline</li>
<li>I.C.21.c.10 – Add paragraph for Z71 pediatric to adult transition</li>
<li>I.C.21.17 – Add information about the use of SDOH codes</li>
